Huawei to Use a Unique “Liquid Lens”For Its Next Flagship Phone

Chinese Smartphone market leader Huawei is always looking to stay ahead of the competition when it comes to camera quality. This year, the company introduced a new free form lens that promises better results, and newer reports are suggesting that the Chinese brand is in the final phase of testing a new liquid lens.

This new liquid lens is expected to greatly improve image stabilization and focus times. According to a report from Chinese media, focus time will be reduced to a few milliseconds, which is on par with the human eye.

This technology will reportedly be implemented on telephoto cameras first so instead of moving the lenses, it will alter the shape of the moving liquid through varying voltage levels. The way this technology works is currently unknown, but it involves moving a motor, a camera placeholder, and electronic hardware to move the liquid lens.

Additionally, these new liquid lenses are also expected to be more durable and greatly immune to shock as compared to non-liquid camera lenses. Tipster Digital Chat Station believes that this lens will be paired with the unannounced Sony IMX782 sensor for excellent results.

We expect to see an official announcement for this new liquid lens sometime next year.

Amazfit Pop Pro Smartwatch is Coming Next Week

Amazfit unveiled a new smartwatch lineup last month called the Amazfit Pop. The watch is now about to receive a Pro model soon and some of its specifications have been officially revealed along with a launch date.

The confirmation comes from a teaser poster which shows that the Amazfit Pop Pro will have a square-shaped dial similar to the Apple Watch and a number of other brands. It will have a 1.43-inch OLED screen, NFC support, and 24-hour real-time heart rate tracking. There will be 60 different sports modes and Amazfit’s PAI algorithm will keep you active and motivated.

We are expecting the Amazfit Pop Pro to cost $60, which is slightly more than the base Amazfit Pop. The leaks show that the wearable will come in Green, Black, and Pink colors. It will officially break cover on December 1.

Chinese phone and display making giant TCL has a new mid-range phone coming early next year, details of which have been leaked already. According to tipster Evan Blass, the device will be called the TCL 20 5G and it will be powered by the Snapdragon 690 chipset along with three cameras on the back.

The display will be a 6.67-inch panel with FHD+ resolution. It is uncertain whether it will be an LCD or an AMOLED panel, but since the fingerprint sensor is on the side atop the power button, it is safe to assume that it will be an LCD. There is also an assistant button on the left side.

The Snapdragon 690 SoC will be paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB/256GB internal storage. The battery capacity will be 4,500 mAh, but there is no word on fast charging capabilities.

The TCL 20 5G is expected to break cover in the first quarter of 2021.
