PEMRA Details Why It Can’t Fine Khalil ur Rehman
The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulation Authority (PEMRA) has finally taken notice of the on-air verbal spat between famous scriptwriter Khalilur Rehman Qamar and feminist activist Marvi Sirmed.
The incident took place on Sunday evening at the Neo News program ‘Rabia Ehtisham Kay Sath.’ During the show, the two participants indulged in a heated debate on much-hyped Aurat March.

As evident from the footage, Sirmed continued to tease KRQ during his speech with the infamous slogan ‘Maira jism, Mairi marzi’ which led KRQ to lose his calm on the live show. As a result, Qamar got animated and abused Sirmed for continuously nagging him.
Taking notice of the incident, the media watchdog has served Neo News a show-cause notice. As per PEMRA’s process, the show host or her representative will attend a hearing to prove why it wasn’t their responsibility to intervene and don’t let this happen on TV.
