Sindh Govt Will Not Allow Any Exams This Year for Students of Class 1 to 12

Sindh government has decided to promote all students from class one to class 12 without taking exams, including those who failed in all subjects. Provincial education minister, Saeed Ghani, stated this in a press conference on Sunday.

He said that the decision was made during the steering committee’s meeting which decided to promote all students, even those who failed in more than 40 percent of subjects by awarding them passing marks.

No special examinations for improvement or failed students (of SSC and HSSC) will be conducted this year, he said, adding that students who want to improve their subjects will be given the opportunity next year.

Federal government had announced that students failed in 40 percent of subjects will be given passing marks, while the students who failed in more than 40 percent of subjects have to give the special examination. But, keeping in view the current situation, Sindh has decided to promote allow students including those who failed in more than 40% subjects.

Ghani said that students of grade 10 and 12 students will be promoted on the basis of last years’ exams with an additional 3% marks, whereas, students of class 9 and 11 will be promoted to the next classes without any marks.

When they take examinations next year, the numbers obtained in the tenth and twelfth grades will be considered as the numbers of ninth and eleventh.

He continued that no school/college, public or private, will be allowed to resume the teaching process from June 1 (today). Those in violation of the order will be dealt with strictly.

We have not stopped private educational institutions from opening from today if they want, but we have stopped the teaching process and no school can start teaching without the permission of the government.

It is pertinent to mention here that the federal government had announced to close educational institutes until July 15 and cancellation of board exams for the academic year 2019-20.
