Lionel Messi Getting ‘Tired’ of Problems at Barcelona

Lionel Messi said that he is frustrated at being blamed for every problem at his club. Messi’s comments came in after his teammate Antoine Griezmann’s former agent accused Messi of having too much control in Barcelona and termed it as ‘reign of terror’.

Messi, who was on international duty with Argentina, was questioned by the reporters upon his arrival back in Barcelona.

“The truth is that I’m a little tired of always being the problem for everything at the club. On top of that, after a 15-hour flight, I had the tax authorities waiting for me. It’s madness,” he added.

Griezmann’s former agent, Eric Olhats, while talking to a sports publication said that Messi made life very difficult for Griezmann upon his arrival in Barcelona. His attitude was deplorable and he made Griezmann feel it. He said that Messi may be good on the pitch, but his attitude off it is bad.

Earlier in the year, Messi announced his decision to leave Barcelona but ultimately decided to stay at the club as he did not want to proceed in a legal battle with the club.

He has also been under investigation by the Spanish tax authorities over the past few years. He was found guilty in 2016 of evading tax after failing to report €4.2 million income from image rights, hence he was handed a 21-month prison sentence and a €2 million fine.

However, he did not serve any prison time, instead was asked to pay an additional fine, as per the law in Spain.

Messi has been at the forefront of accusations at the club and is expected to leave Barcelona at the end of the season, having been at the club since the age of 13.
