Zong 4G Partners with District Authorities in Baluchistan to Fight COVID-19

In the wake of a global pandemic, Pakistan’s leading telecommunication network, Zong 4G has announced a partnership with the provincial Government of Balochistan to collaboratively fight the Covid-19 challenges and to create awareness about it through an SMS based campaign.
Through the widest network of Pakistan, Zong 4G’s awareness activity will reach out to the citizens of the remote areas of Balochistan via an SMS service, urging them to take all precautions and measures amid the COVID-19 outbreak. The campaign is targeted for Quetta, Pishin and Chaman.
Over 2.5 million free-of-cost messages have so far been disseminated as part of the partnership. These awareness messages will not only educate people about the symptoms of Covid-19 but also equip them with the details about government helplines from where they can get reliable information on how to protect themselves.

Pakistan’s Exports Skyrocket During Coronavirus Lockdown

Pakistani exports registered a whopping increase of over 45.35% in May as compared to April 2020 as the country received more orders from the international market amid the coronavirus pandemic.
During the month of April, Pakistani exports declined by 47.24 on the back of the coronavirus pandemic, which forced businesses to suspend their operations due to the low demand and disruption in supply chains. Global stock markets, businesses, manufacturing, and production had slowed down since the start of the new year owing to the pandemic.
After the ease in lockdown and resumption of economic activities around the world, the exports in May 2020 saw a recovery of 45.35%, with their value increasing from $957 million in the previous month to $1.39 billion, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

K-electric has warned citizens of Karachi of an increased power outage during the summer season.
In a statement, the spokesperson of the electric supply company said that due to relaxation in the lockdown, the businesses have reopened, causing a surge in demand.

Emirates is Restarting Flight Operations in Pakistan

UAE’s Emirates will resume scheduled flights from Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad from June 8, 2020.
The airline will operate 14 weekly scheduled flights to Dubai, including a daily flight from Karachi, five from Lahore, and two from Islamabad.

On its flights from Pakistan to Dubai, Emirates will fly UAE residents, as well as cargo. On the return flights, the airline will only carry cargo.
According to the schedule, the UAE-based airline will serve Pakistan with its modern Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, flying daily from Karachi, on Thursdays and Saturdays from Islamabad, and on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays from Lahore.
Travelers that fulfill the UAE government’s eligibility criteria and requirements will be allowed to board the aircraft.

Pakistan Continues To Make New Grim Single-Day Records As Virus Confusion Mounts

It seems like the mindless Eid festivities and the de facto end of the lockdown restrictions are beginning to show the dreaded results. Every new day is bringing new records of coronavirus positive cases and deaths related to the virus complications.
On Wednesday, the country made several new records related to the Covid-19 pandemic, the grip of which is only tightening in Pakistan as it loosens in the west. In the past 24 hours, the country registered 20,167 new cases from across the country in a new sobering record.
Sindh, Balochistan, and Islamabad, all broke their own previous records for new cases registering 1,824, 484, and 356 positives respectively. Punjab recorded 1,615, KP 476, GB 45, and AJK one new case of the novel coronavirus – high numbers but not beating the previous tallies.

Sindh Private Schools Association Announces to Reopen Schools From 15 June

Private Schools Action Committee (PSAC) has announced to reopen schools and resume the academic processes from 15 June in three phases under its own SOPs.
In a news conference held at Karachi Press Club, PSAC’s Chief, Pervez Haroon, said that PSAC rejects the Sindh government’s decision to extend the closure of schools till September amid the Coronavirus pandemic.
