Legendary Sri Lankan cricketer, Kumar Sangakkara, has picked a fast bowler and a spinner as the toughest he has faced in his career. The wicket-keeper batsman’s career spanned over 15 years in which he scored over 28,000 international runs including 53 centuries.
When asked to name the best fast bowler and spinner he had the privilege of facing in international cricket, the former wicket-keeper batsman picked Pakistani legend, Wasim Akram, and Australian great, Shane Warne.

Sangakkara himself was one of the most prolific batsmen of the recent era considering he is the 6th highest run-getter in Test cricket with 12,400 runs and is only behind Sachin Tendulkar with 14,234 runs in ODIs.
The best fast bowler was Wasim Akram, without a doubt.
He believes that his fellow cricketer, Muttiah Muralitharan was the best spinner, however, he never faced him which is why he went with Shane Warne.
When it comes to spin bowling, it would be Shane Warne. Of course, I had the luxury of not facing Muttiah Muralitharan in international cricket.
“Having kept to Murali, and been a big part of his career, I will always say he is the best spinner I saw and the best spinner to play the game. But to bat against, Warne was the best. Stuart Macgill, Ravi Ashwin, and Graeme Swann were all excellent but Warney was obviously very, very special”, he further added.
The 42-year-old, who is also the President of the MCC, rated Nathan Lyon and Mitchel Starc’s duo as the best in the world among active players.
