The federal government is making efforts to vaccinate the maximum number of people in the shortest possible time in order to avoid lockdown on Eid-ul-Azha, Planning Minister Asad Umar has revealed.
Briefing the media after attending the meeting of the National Coordination Committee (NCC) which reviewed the COVID-19 situation in the country, Umar said that the government’s decision to impose lockdown restrictions before Eid-ul-Fitr has resulted in a declining Coronavirus positivity rate countrywide.

He termed the lockdown as a defensive action and lamented that it adversely impacts the livelihood of the public.
The Minister added that mass vaccination remains the only way out of the prevailing COVID-19 situation.
He said that the government will try to get as many people vaccinated before Eid-ul-Azha as possible to avoid a lockdown situation similar to Eid-ul-Fitr.
In this regard, the government has decided to adopt the “whole of nation approach” after successfully implementing the “whole of government approach.”

All federal and provincial departments worked together against the Coronavirus under the whole of government approach. Now, the entire nation must work together under the whole of nation approach to tackle the Coronavirus.
The government has also decided to launch an awareness campaign with the help of mainstream media, leading businesses, and religious scholars to educate the masses regarding the importance of COVID-19 vaccination.
