PTCL Appoints a New CEO

The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) appointed its new chief on Monday.

According to the notifications that it submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Hatem Mohamad Bamatraf has been voted in as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) by the Board of Directors of the PTCL.

Another notification submitted to PSX detailed, “We have to inform you that Matthew Wilsher has/have ceased to be the Chief Executive of the Company w.e.f. 2021-05-23 and Mr. Hatem Mohamad Bamatraf has/have been appointed as Chief Executive”.

Wilsher had been appointed on 20 October last year (with his official duties beginning on 1 December 2020) as the replacement of Rashid Khan who had been the CEO of PTCL Group since March 2019.

Bamatraf has been serving as the Chief Technology Officer at Etisalat since 2013 and is a member of various advisory boards. He is also a publicly renowned official who has made frequent appearances in the media and at conferences such as the 5G MENA.

Etisalat is the majority shareholder of the PTCL along with the company’s management control.
