Power Surge

The usual powerplay of six overs has been reduced to the first four overs, while the remaining two powerplay overs will be chosen by the batting side. The remaining two powerplay overs can only be chosen from the 11th over onwards.

X-Factor

X-Factor will allow the teams to make substitutions. An ‘X-factor Player’, named as either the 12th or 13th player on the team sheet, can come into the game beyond the 10th over of the first innings and replace any player who is yet to bat or has bowled no more than one over.

Bash Boost

Bash Boost is an incentive provided to the teams to pick up bonus points. The points will be awarded halfway through the second innings of the match. The chasing team will receive an extra bonus point if they score more runs than the opposition in the first 10 overs, while if they score less than the fielding team will be awarded the bonus point.

In addition, the teams in Big Bash League will also now be awarded three points for winning the match, as opposed to the traditional two.
