Govt’s New Law Will Ban Children from Evicting Parents from Their House

The Federal Minister for Law and Justice, Dr. Farogh Naseem, met with Prime Minister Imran Khan to discuss the proposal for the promulgation of the ordinance regarding family and property. The ordinance also prescribes the rights of parents regarding their eviction of or by children and their spouses and the protection of the rights of parents living with their children.

Dr. Naseem informed the premier that the proposed ordinance will focus on three main points:

  1. Children who own houses should be disallowed from evicting their parents.
  2. If parents own a house, they should have a right to evict their disobedient children and their spouses through a simple procedure that includes police intervention.
  3. If a house has been constructed using parents’ or grandparents’ funds but has been registered in the names of the owners’ children, provisions should be made for the parents for the duration of their life.

Dr. Naseem added that the ordinance is crucial and its promulgation will earn the prayers of parents for the premier, the Minister of Law, and the entire cabinet.

The Prime Minister approved the proposal and directed the law minister to prepare the draft at the earliest.
