The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi has issued a second notice to Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Finance Advisor to Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Hafeez Sheikh has been accused of making illegal payments from the national exchequer in the past. According to NAB, 11.25 million dollar was paid illegally. Hafeez Sheikh and former chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Salman Siddique were accused of making illegal payments.
According to NAB, illegal payments were made for customs clearance, system care pilot project, the system was never installed under the care project, company agility was paid.
NAB Karachi had issued a notice to Hafeez Sheikh on December 1 for investigation. The NAB Combined Investigation Team had summoned Hafeez Sheikh on December 1 but he did not appear.
Now the NAB has issued a second notice to Hafeez Sheikh, Advisor to the Prime Minister. According to NAB officials, former FBR chairman Salman Siddique has also been summoned for investigation. Notices have also been issued to former customs officer Ashar Azim for illegal payment.
Abdul Hafeez Sheikh has also been the Finance Minister in the PPP government.
