Punjab’s Essential COVID-19 Medical Resources Data is Now Publicly Available

Punjab’s Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department (SH&MED) has decided to publicly declare data regarding the availability of ventilators, beds, and PPEs in all hospitals across the province.
According to Azhar Mashwani, Focal Person on Digital Media to CM Punjab, SH&MED will update the statistics on its website on a daily basis.

IT Exports Grew 20% in First 10 Months of FY 2019-20

The IT & IT-enabled Services (ITeS) export remittances comprising computer services and call center services have surged to $1.003 billion at a growth rate of 23.42% over the first 10 months of FY 2019-20 (July – April), in comparison to $812.648 million during the same period in FY 2018-19, according to a performance report of Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), an organization under Ministry of IT and Telecommunication.
The Ministry spokesman said that on the direction of Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication to promote Pakistan’s IT industry and to enhance its exports, all possible steps are being taken to ensure sustainable growth of Pakistan’s IT Industry including incentives, tax breaks, capability, and capacity improvement of the IT industry among others.

These Rings Can Predict COVID-19 Infections

One of the biggest challenges of dealing with COVID-19 is that the infected individuals have the potential to spread it within their social groups without even knowing that they are carrying the virus. This is one of the reasons why researchers from West Virginia University (WVU) set out to predict symptoms of COVID-19 before they appear.
The researchers now claim that their digital platform is able to detect COVID-19 infections three days before any symptoms appear with 90% accuracy. They were able to do so by using AI prediction models on Oura Rings that collect physical data such as heart rate, body temperature, respiration rate, etc.

Digital Banking Services in Pakistan Record Impressive Growth During Lockdown

Digital banking in the country recorded impressive growth in the past few months as customers opted to use alternative and cashless channels, adopting preventive measures against COVID-19.

Govt Resumes Public Transport & Ride-Hailing Services in Sindh

Sindh government has finally agreed to resume public transport services across the province from Tuesday (today). Sindh Transport Minister Syed Awais Qadir Shah said that the decision was taken after an agreement between transporters and government.
Online transport and ride-hailing services have also been resumed but with the proper guidelines. He said.
Only two persons in a car will be allowed to travel at a time.

$9.2 Billion ML-1 CPEC Railway Project Will Commence in Jan 2021

The $9.2 billion Main Line (ML-1) project under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is planned to be executed in January 2021, if PC-1 of the project is approved in the upcoming Central Development Working Party (CDWP) meeting scheduled for June 3, 2020.
This was revealed by senior officials of the Railways Ministry. “The project will be further delayed if it is not approved by the Planning Commission”, the official added.
According to official documents, the project has been divided into three packages. Package-I is proposed to be executed in January 2021 and will be completed with proposed spending of $3.37 billion in four years i.e. by December 2024. The package-II is proposed to be executed in January 2022 and will be completed in five years i.e. by December 2026 with a proposed amount of $2.24 billion. Package-III is proposed to be executed in January 2023 and will be completed by December 2029 with the proposed amount of $3.56 billion.
