Punjab Govt to Set Up a New Administrative Division of Lahore

A new administrative division of Lahore will be set up in the coming weeks, Chief Minister Punjab, Sardar Usman Buzdar, announced on Wednesday.

While addressing the Punjab Assembly, CM Punjab said the decision to divide Lahore on administrative grounds has been taken to improve the provision of civic amenities in the provincial capital.

CM Punjab also addressed the reservations of the opposition that the government has been ignoring Lahore and only focusing on the development of South Punjab.

He clarified that the provincial government allocated Rs. 86 billion for Lahore alone this year, other than the funds earmarked for the Orange Line Metro Train.

The provincial government also started the development work of the 600-bed Ganga Ram Mother and Child Hospital in Lahore. Gulab Devi and Lal Shehbaz underpasses have been developed in the city while the construction work of the new state-of-the-art bus terminal at Thokar Niaz Beg will begin soon.

CM Punjab also added that a separate budget book was developed for South Punjab for the first time in the history of the province.
