Energizer, the American brand known for batteries, has released its first-ever rugged 5G phone, the Hard Case G5. This phone can survive up to 4 feet deep in water for up to 30 minutes and is shatter and shock resistant.
Design and Display
Upfront, it has a 6.3-inch LCD with FHD+ resolution, a waterdrop notch selfie camera, and the Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The display has thicker bezels surrounded by reinforced corners for extra protection.
The exterior is made out of several layers of industrial-grade rubber which gives the phone its shock resistance and allows it to survive drops from up to 1.2 meters. The device can also easily withstand electrostatic shocks.
Internals and Storage
The Hard Case G5 is one of the few rugged phones with 5G thanks to the Dimensity 720 SoC. This 7nm chip is paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, though there is a memory card slot for expansion as well.
The phone boots stock Android 11 out of the box.
Cameras
The main camera setup includes a 48MP primary sensor and a 13MP ultrawide camera. There is also a 20MP “night camera” which lets you see in the dark through its infrared illuminator. This camera is capable of capturing 1080p video clips.
The front-facing camera is an 8MP wide-angle lens.
Battery and Pricing
There is a 5,000 mAh battery onboard that takes charge from a USB C port, but there is no word on fast charging.
The Energizer Hard Case G6 will go for sale in October this year for $600.
