Many people in Canada have died due to an unprecedented heatwave that has smashed its high-temperature records.
The northwestern coast of the United States of America has also recorded high temperatures, with many people dying as the weather continues to worsen.

Local authorities in Vancouver, Canada, have reported more than 130 deaths since Friday, and mostly elderly people or individuals with severe health issues had succumbed to the heat. According to BBC News, Canada broke its summer temperature record at 49.6 °C (121.3 °F) in Lytton, British Columbia this summer.
Owing to an increased volume of emergency calls creating a huge backlog for state services to respond to, local police officers have been deployed in the weather-stricken areas.

In the northwest of America, temperatures hit 46.1 °C in Portland, Oregon, and 42.2 °C in Seattle, Washington, which are the highest temperatures recorded since the 1940s, as reported by the National Weather Service.
To make it worse, over a dozen deaths reported in these areas are linked to the heatwave which is also intense enough to melt power cables and is responsible for the shutting down of various services.
