KP Assembly Passes Resolution to Make Friday a Public Holiday

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly has passed several resolutions, including the restoration of Friday as a public holiday, preventing insults to the Companions and the Ahle-Bait, and sentencing people charged with blasphemy against the Companions and the Ahle-Bait to either death or life imprisonment.

In the KP Assembly, the government and the members of the opposition unanimously demanded the issuance of lifelong privileges and blue passports for all the members of the provincial legislature, the restoration of Friday as a public holiday, preventing insults to the Companions and the Ahle-Bait, awarding either the death penalty or life imprisonment for blasphemy, and the declaration of Saraiki as the parliamentary language.
