Pakistan’s northern areas offer diverse cultures, various ethnicities, beautiful landscapes, and warm-hearted people. The locals here are highly intelligent and quick learners. They speak several languages, including Gilgiti, Pashto, Urdu, and English. Although many do not attend formal schools but they are taught different languages which benefit them as tour guides. The kids who hail from the northern areas also get admiration for their charming looks and confidence.
Lately, a minor girl from Lower Dir grabbed social media users’ attention due to her fluent English. According to the local girl, she has never gone to the school but has a command on six languages including English.
Talking about it, the Lower Dir girl said, “My mother is from Chitral, my father is from Peshawar; my father speaks 14 languages. I can speak six languages. I haven’t learnt these languages from school. I was taught English at home; I am fluent in Urdu, English, Punjabi, Siraiki, Pashto, and Chitrali. I’m selling peanuts and sunflower seeds. Netizens were surprised to hear her speak fluent English with a perfect accent. Many said she speaks better than those who have studied in English medium schools. A few said that it’s not about schooling and education, but about the hard work and confidence that everyone should have in life. One social media user wrote, “I had a chance to meet this lovely little kid and bought eggs from her.” Many others said that such hardworking individuals deserve better jobs than being vendors.
