Amna Ilyas is a famous Pakistani fashion model & film and television actress. Amna started her career with modelling at the age of seventeen, she switched towards acting after a few years. Her notable acting performances are in Tum Mere Paas Raho, Dil Nahi Manta, Aik Jhoota Lafz Mohabbat, Zinda Bhaag, Baaji, Saat Din Muhabbat In, Ready Steady No and Stage drama Ankahi.
Recently, Amna Ilyas appeared in The Talk Talk Show where she talked about item numbers. She said, “What is this word ‘item’, we call it a dance performance, item words has come from our neighbours, people say in India, ‘hey you’re looking like an item’, but actually it’s a musical performance for me, I don’t want to attach that (item) connotation with it , but yes it is set in that zone that a girl is here to perform and entertain through her dance but still why you have to call it an item number.
Talking further about it, Amna said, “I think all the musicals of Hollywood movies are quite entertaining and they come in the film for some purpose, they are also doing dancing films, it is all about entertainment which we limit, also, these stories come from real lives, we do dances in weddings, people do dance in their weddings, but it becomes problem when we show it in films, also, the item songs come in the films as per requirement. Baaji and Zindabhaag had no item songs, it depends on the situation, if there is a need for item song then why not, you should add it in film, you can’t deprive people of their choices, don’t just watch if you don’t want to watch, choose the film of your choice”
