The government has decided to enact a countrywide lockdown during the Eid holidays in a bid to curb the spread of the Coronavirus across the country. Sindh Transport Minister has also announced the closure of all public transport from May 8 till May 16, following a sudden rise of coronavirus cases in Sindh.
Transport Minister, Awais Qadir Shah, informed the media that interprovincial, intercity, and tourism transport will be banned, whereas the decision will not be applicable for public transport within the cities. The decision to ban inter-provincial transport was made on the recommendation of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

Other measures taken by the government to curb the spread of the coronavirus include a ban on dining out, takeaway services, parks, markets, tourist spots, and other recreational avenues that are possible hotspots for the spread of the virus.
Home delivery services, however, will be available across the province and grocery stores will be allowed to remain open till 6 pm. Pharmacies and COVID-19 vaccination centers are exempted from the decision and will be allowed to remain open for 24 hours.
