The Punjab government has decided to reopen all medical schools and colleges in the province under strict COVID-19 SOPs from tomorrow.
According to a statement by the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department (SHMED), all public and private medical and dental colleges and nursing schools in Punjab will reopen on 27 May.

Third, fourth, and final year MBBS students and third and fourth year BDS students will be required to attend on-campus classes. Whereas, first and second year MBBS and BDS students will continue to receive online education.
Heads of institutions of all public and private colleges will be responsible for ensuring the COVID-19 vaccination of all students and teachers as well as non-teaching staff members.

Meanwhile, the ban on organizing sports competitions and cultural events in medical and dental colleges and nursing schools will remain in place until further orders.
It may be recalled that medical schools and colleges in Punjab were shut down in March this year due to a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases in the province.
