Pakistan’s all-format captain, Babar Azam, entered himself into the record books yet again as he became the fastest batsman in the world to reach 20 T20I half-centuries, taking only 56 innings to do so. Babar achieved the feat during the second T20I against West Indies.

Babar scored 51 runs off 40 balls, including 4 fours and 2 maximums in the second T20I. Babar’s magnificent knock helped Pakistan to post a total of 157/8 on a difficult pitch in Guyana. Pakistani bowling unit stood up to the challenge and defended the total to hand the Men in Green a 1-0 lead in the four-match series.
Babar surpassed the record of the Indian captain, Virat Kohli, who had taken 62 innings to reach his 20 half-centuries. Babar also became the third batsman in the world to score 20 T20I half-centuries. The Indian duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are the other two batsmen to reach the landmark.

The 27-year old has been in sublime form ever since he became the captain of the national side. He has been the spine of the Pakistani batting unit and has scored heavily on a consistent basis. This was Babar’s 11th half-century as the captain of the side, the second-most in the world for a captain. Indian captain, Virat Kohli, has 12 half-centuries to his name as captain.
While Virat has taken 43 innings to reach 12 half-centuries as captain, Babar has taken only 23 innings to score 11 half-centuries.
