The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has withdrawn the fixed sales tax on the SIM cards of mobile phones from 1 July 2021. The Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCoE) has ordered the quick implementation of the oil crisis report. The move comes while the power sector circular debt is at Rs. 2.327 trillion as of June 30, 2021. CCoE also ordered to transfer additional powers to Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to regulate the oil marketing sector, Dawn News reported. According to an AI-driven study conducted by a research group from Carnegie Mellon University in the United States, hashtags like #IndiaNeedsOxygen and #PakistanStandsWithIndia trended on Twitter, with people posting tens of thousands of tweets between 21 April and 4 May 2021.
