The federal government has decided to seek financial assistance from international lenders to purchase Coronavirus vaccines.
According to various media reports, the government will contact the World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), and UNICEF to raise funds for buying doses of COVID-19 vaccines in bulk.

The Ministry of National Health Services, through the Economic Affairs Division, will negotiate with the representatives of multilateral donors either for grants or loans.
In this regard, the Health Ministry has started working on a comprehensive plan.

It must be noted here that the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) in its recent meeting, with Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, in the chair, approved the provision of a technical supplementary grant of $150 million for the purchase of the coronavirus vaccine.
The vaccine will be delivered to frontline healthcare workers and the elderly on priority. Overall, around 10 million people will be provided a vaccine cover under the aforementioned arrangement.
