Actor Mohit Baghel who worked with Salman Khan in Ready, passes away at 27

Comedian and actor Mohit Baghel passed away today at the age of 27. The actor was battling cancer. He started his career with his comic stints on television which was followed by character roles in Bollywood. Mohit is popular for his role in Salman Khan starrer Ready in which he plays Chhote Amar Chaudhary.

Mohit has also worked in films like Uvaa, Milan Talkies and Jabariya Jodi. Director Raaj Shaandaliyaa took to Twitter to write an emotional message for Mohit.

Shah Rukh Khan’s production Betaal lands in plagiarism row; Marathi writers file a case 

Netflix's upcoming original show Betaal which is produced by Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment has landed in a plagiarism row. Two Marathi writers have claimed that the story has been copied from their zombie film script called Vetaal.

The writers Sameer Wadekar and Mahesh Goswami have filed a case against Shah Rukh Khan's production house and Netflix. The writers moved Bombay High Court after the trailer was released last week. Talking to a tabloid, Sameer said that they had approached several production houses with their script, but Red Chillies Entertainment was not one of them. He said that he has not been able to figure out how the idea reached them. He also said that the show went on floors in July 2019, a year after his script was registered with the Screenwriters Association(SWA).

Juhi Chawla opens her family farm for landless farmers to grow rice

The lockdown has affected the economic status of several people as a majority have gone out of jobs. Actress and environmentalist Juhi Chawla has come forward to help farmers during this tough time. The actress has family farmland on the outskirts of Mumbai where a team of experts practice organic farming. Juhi has now made the land available to landless farmers to grow rice this season.

Talking to a tabloid, Juhi said that they are letting farmers farm rice and in return they get to take a small portion of the produce for themselves. Fukrey 3 makers plan to incorporate COVID-19 situation in the film 

The film industry has come to a halt because of the ongoing pandemic. Filmmakers are already predicting several films based on corona to come out in the near future. Now, director Mrigdeep Singh Lamba said that he is thinking of touching upon the COVID-19 situation in the third part of his hit franchise film Fukrey.

IMPPA requests filmmakers to clear all and any pending dues of employees

Amid nationwide lockdown since March 24, daily wage workers across the country have been left jobless. Film and TV shoots have been shut. Today, the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA) released a statement urging the filmmakers to clear all dues of the employees, daily wage workers, technicians, and artistes.

“As all members are aware that the situation of daily wage workers, technicians and artistes who have not yet been paid the dues for their working for our members has become very serious due to further extension of the lockdown by the Government.

James Cameron’s Avatar 2 sets ready in New Zealand, film shooting to resume next week 

The highly anticipated sequel of Avatar directed by James Cameron is on its way. After revealing the first concept art for Avatar 2 in January 2020, new photos were released from underwater filming earlier this month. Now, the production will resume shooting in New Zealand next week after it was halted in March due to coronavirus pandemic.

Producer Jon Landau posted a photo on Instagram on Thursday revealed that he and the team of Avatar 2 will be returning to New Zealand to resume shooting. “Our ‘Avatar’ sets are ready — and we couldn’t be more excited to be headed back to New Zealand next week,” Landau wrote.
