Lately, Dr. Affan Qaiser has been raising his voice against wrong practices on social media, over use of mobile among kids and social media abuse. He has been warning parents of young social media users and influencers for their negligence.
In his recent video, Dr Affan Qaiser said, “I am asking the parents of young kids to confiscate their phones or break them”. He shared the story of a patient who visited him with her son, who was in the eighth grade. The patient had multiple health issues and was barely able to sit, wearing knee braces, while her son was constantly gaming on his phone, showing no interest in his mother’s condition. Dr. Qaiser urged the boy to put the phone aside, but he completely ignored him. According to him, the boy was so addicted to his phone that he paid no attention to his mother’s illness.
He further added, “Whatever a child learns in the first 15 years of his life becomes part of him and that’s what’s happening with this generation, they are becoming addicted to phones and social media because parents give them phones at an early age.”
