Health Ministry Issues Guidelines for Pfizer’s COVID-19 Vaccine

Ministry of Health has issued guidelines for the storage and usage of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine in the country.

According to the storage guidelines, the vaccine will be stored at -60°C and -80°C and will be kept away from light. However, it can be stored at room temperature six hours after its reconstitution.

Each pack of the vaccine will consist of six doses and both doses of the two-dose vaccine will be administered 21 days apart. The vial of the vaccine should only be opened just before its use.

As per the usage guidelines, the vaccine will be administered to people aged 18 years or above including high-risk patients, immunocompromised individuals, Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, and overseas Pakistani students and workers.

Individuals who have already recovered from Coronavirus can also receive the vaccine.

The vaccine will be administered to pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers as well while it is also suitable for individuals facing liver issues and neurological disorders.

It will also be administered to cancer, hepatitis, and stroke patients while respiratory, cardiac, and hypertension patients will be vaccinated after consulting with concerned doctors.

However, individuals suffering from intense allergies and fever will not be administered Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine.
