The spokesperson for the Foreign Office, Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri, has strongly refuted rumors about the presence of the American military or an American airbase in Pakistan and stated that such “baseless and irresponsible speculations” should be avoided.
“There was no US military or airbase in Pakistan, nor was any such proposal envisaged. Any speculation on this account was baseless and irresponsible and should be avoided,” he declared in a press release.

“Pakistan and the US have a framework of cooperation in terms of Air Lines of Communication (ALOC) and Ground Lines of Communication (GLOC) in place since 2001. No new agreement has been made in this regard,” he added.

Chaudhri’s statement came following a media report quoting a claim by an official from the Pentagon that Pakistan had permitted the American military to use its airspace and has given America ground access to support its presence in Afghanistan.
