The star all-rounder, Andre Russell, was the biggest inclusion in the West Indies squad after being sidelined from the team for more than a year. Russell is one of the most destructive T20 players in the world, and his magnificent form in the recently suspended Indian Premier League (IPL) has earned him a call-up to the national side.
The destructive all-rounder, Carlos Brathwaite, and the fast bowler, Alzarri Joseph, were the two surprise exclusions from the squad as the selectors opted for alternatives such as the veteran all-rounder, Dwayne Bravo, and the young fast bowler, Obed McCoy.
West Indies coach, Phil Simmons, was delighted at the way the national squad has shaped up.
