Sami said that he has been in contact with a few of the best domestic performers in the country and they have shown keen interest in moving to the USA. He revealed that one or two players are close to signing their contracts in the next few days.

Sami decided to move to the USA last year after being repeatedly ignored over the years by the Pakistan chief selectors. He quit cricket in Pakistan when he was not included in the squad for the tour of New Zealand last year.

The 25-year old said that he does not regret his decision at all and is quite happy with the way things are in his life. He revealed that he was depressed for the past two years after not being considered for the national team, but now he is in a good mental space.

He claims that he was not overlooked for the national team due to his performances on the field but due to his refusal to praise the people in charge.

He said “I wasn’t one of those players who would keep phoning the coach and praising him. I have always relied on my on-field performances rather than sucking up to coaches or team management for no reason as some players do.”

Sami had a solid start to his Test career, scoring 758 runs at an average of 31.58, including 7 half-centuries, in 13 Test matches. He last played international cricket for Pakistan in 2017 against Sri Lanka.
