Balochistan Officially Announces Winter Vacations for Schools

Balochistan government has decided to start the winter vacation across the province before the scheduled time, Education Minister, Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind, has confirmed.

While speaking with journalists, the Minister said that the provincial government has taken this decision in view of the resurging Coronavirus cases across the province.

According to details, winter vacations in educational institutions in Balochistan will commence from 1 December 2020 and will last until 28 February 2021, with the new academic year set to start from 1 March 2021.

Rind’s statement comes a day after the Inter-Provincial Education Ministers’ Conference (IPEMC) failed to reach consensus on the closure of educational institutes and early and extended winter vacation across the country.

Following the meeting, Federal Education Minister, Shafqat Mahmood, said that the decision on the matter will be made in the IPEMC on 23 November.

Meanwhile, Sindh’s Minister for Education, Saeed Ghani, has taken the proposition of an academic winter break in the province this year out of the equation, arguing that students have already enjoyed enough extended holidays in 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
