The Government of Sindh will launch a Prison Information Management System in all 23 jails in the province in July to improve monitoring and administration.
Chief Secretary (CS) Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah and the federal Ombudsman Syed Tahir Shahbaz co-chaired a meeting at the Sindh Secretariat to discuss the progress on the introduction of prison reforms in Sindh.
According to the spokesman for the CS, Farhat Imtiaz Janwiri, the process of introducing prison reforms has started in all the jails of Sindh.

The government’s departments for Education, Health, and Social Welfare have been active in implementing these reforms.
The CS stated that the oversight committees had been constituted of members from the judiciary, civil society, education, and health to improve the prison system as part of the reform process.

The attendees of the meeting were also informed that the provincial government has begun the process of COVID-19 vaccination in jails, and 4,350 inmates and 1,222 jail staff have been vaccinated.
