Aquos R6 is the latest flagship phone from Sharp, but its main highlight isn’t its top-tier specifications (also impressive), but its ginormous main camera. There is only one camera on the back, but it is a massive 1-inch sensor, the biggest camera sensor ever seen on a smartphone.
Design and Display
The Sharp Aquos R6 is one of the very few smartphones in the world with an ultra-smooth 240Hz refresh rate. A refresh rate this high is usually seen on competitive gaming monitors used by professional gamers.
This is on top of a 6.67-inch OLED display with 2K resolution, curved sides, a punch-hole selfie camera, and minimal bezels. The humongous main camera is placed next to a dual-LED flash and is branded by Leica.
Internals and Storage
Being a flagship smartphone, the Aquos R6 features none other than the Snapdragon 888 SoC. Memory configuration goes up to 12GB RAM and 128GB UFS, which means top-tier performance in simpler words. There is also an SD card slot for storage expansion.
It boots Android 11 out of the box.
Cameras
The huge camera sensor on the back is a 20MP unit which also comes with a ToF sensor next to it. The only image stabilization you get is EIS, but, according to Sharp, the camera performs remarkably well under low light conditions with increased dynamic range and reduced noise. It should also be able to produce a much better bokeh effect than smaller smartphone cameras.
The front 7MP camera is also optimized by Leica with an f/1.9 aperture and 19 mm focal length.
Battery and Pricing
There is a massive 5,000 mAh battery under the hood, but there is no word on fast charging just yet.
We will get to hear more details on the Sharp Aquos R6 in June once it goes for sale. That is also when we will get to see an official price tag.
