‘Doosra’ is a type of delivery that spins in the opposite direction as compared to a normal off-spin delivery. It was first introduced by former Pakistani off-spinner, Saqlain Mushtaq, and was adopted by Ajmal as one of his go-to deliveries.

Ajmal talked about the issue in a video uploaded to his personal YouTube channel, where he can be seen discussing the matter with Australian middle-order batsman, Usman Khawaja.

Khawaja asked Ajmal about ICC’s decision to not allow the bowlers to bowl the ‘Doosra’, to which the 43-year old said that the ICC believes that this particular delivery cannot be bowled without bending your arm further than 15 degrees, which is the maximum that is allowed according to the rules and regulations of the ICC.

Ajmal revealed that the ICC claims that this delivery cannot be bowled according to science. This particular explanation of the ICC did not sit right with Ajmal as he went on a tirade against cricket’s governing body.

He said, “Any youngster can learn to bowl the ‘Doosra’ within fifteen degrees but ICC has banned the delivery, stating that it is not possible according to science. What is science? Science is man made, it is made by man and man has the ability to do anything. So science can only recommend, but it does not mean it is right.”

The video of Ajmal’s rant was uploaded to Twitter and it has garnered over 2,000 likes and 1,000 retweets.
