The Redmi Note 8 2021 is official as an update over the original 2019 model but with a new SoC, fewer color options, and two memory configs. Redmi has released the phone yet again to celebrate the successful launch of the original, which managed to gain over 25 million sales worldwide.

Other than a revised SoC, the new Redmi Note 8 is identical to the original. You get a 6.3-inch LCD with 1080p resolution and a waterdrop notch selfie camera. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 for scratch and shatter resistance.
The Snapdragon 665 SoC has been swapped out with the MediaTek Helio G85 chip and you only get two storage options, 64GB and 128GB, both with 4GB RAM. The phone boots Android 11 with MIUI 12.5 on top.
The main camera setup includes a 48MP main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide unit, and a duo of 2MP lenses for depth and macro photography. The waterdrop notch selfie camera is a 13MP snapper. The main camera can only record 1080p 30 FPS videos, down from 4K 30 FPS clips.
The battery capacity is 4,000 mAh with support for 18W fast charging. There is no word on pricing, but it will likely remain unchanged from the original.
