Pakistan Set to Host World Environment Day On 4th June

Prime Minister Imran Khan will preside over the virtual World Environment Conference on 4 June as Pakistan is set to host World Environment Day 2021.

According to details, only four international dignitaries, including PM Imran Khan, have been selected to participate in this year’s World Environment Conference.

Aside from PM Imran, UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, and Pope Francis will address the World Environment Conference 2021.

While confirming the development, PM’s Advisor on Climate Change, Malik Amin Aslam, said the PM will brief the conference’s participants about the Billion Tree Tsunami project, Clean Green Pakistan project, electric vehicle policy, national parks, green jobs, and other climate change initiatives taken by the incumbent government.

Besides, PM Imran will also address the main ceremony of World Environment Day 2021 that will be held on 5 June in Islamabad during which the premier will make several key announcements to pursue an effective climate change policy in the country.

This year in March, UN Environment Program (UNEP) announced Pakistan as the host of this year’s World Environment Day. Note that this is the first time that Pakistan is hosting World Environment Day.
