Pakistan has received a consignment of one million Sinovac vaccines from China as the country continues to battle the third wave COVID-19.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK 6852 reached Islamabad on Sunday carrying doses of China’s Sinovac vaccine. This was the 15th consignment carrying COVID-19 vaccines that reached Pakistan from China.

Earlier, PIA issued a statement saying its three PIA Boeing 777 planes were loading vaccines and they would arrive in Pakistan from China on Sunday. It was not clear until then as to which vaccine was being delivered to Pakistan.
Last month, a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) C-130 plane reached Pakistan with 0.5 million doses of SinoVac’s vaccine.

Meanwhile, the country has also received the first shipment of the British coronavirus vaccine AstraZeneca on May 8, brought under the COVAX program. The first consignment of the vaccine includes 1,248,400 doses of the vaccine.
As per a report, Pakistan has vaccinated over 3.5 million people against the virus. The country plans to vaccinate 70 million people by the end of this year.
