Mufti Popalzai Summons a Separate Eid Moon Sighting Committee

The meeting will convene in parallel with the meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee that will be presided over by Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad in Islamabad.

Each year, Mufti Popalzai summons separate meetings for the sighting of the moons of Ramadan and Shawwal and announces independent decisions, which are often in contradiction to official announcements.

The management of Qasim Ali Khan mosque had observed Ramazan this year with the rest of the nation thanks to the efforts of the Ruet-e-Hilal committee.

Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir had recently requested Mufti Popalzai to send his representative to the meeting of the Ruet-i-Hilal committee to sight the moon of Shawwal.

However, Mufti Popalzai declined the offer and announced to hold a separate meeting of the unofficial moon-sighting committee.

On the other hand, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has said that according to the lunar calendar and the Ruet app, the moon of Shawwal will be sighted on 13 May and Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on 14 May.
