The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has claimed that illegal mining has ended in the province.
In a bid to stop illegal mining across the province, around 30 officers were suspended and disciplinary action was taken against them.
The police received almost 2,669 complaints of illegal mining in the last two years, of which 1,336 were converted into FIRs.
Besides, the government has auctioned all empty blocks and sites and approved the establishment of a gemstone laboratory, technical training, and certification center to generate revenue and produce skilled labor.

Meanwhile, the Minerals Development Department collected 54 percent higher revenue during the fiscal year 2020-21. The target set by the provincial government was Rs. 3450 million, but the department collected extraordinary Rs. 5221.879 million.
The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mahmood Khan, lauded the performance of the Mineral Development Department in revenue collection and controlling the illegal mining in the province.

“The Mineral Investment Facilitation Authority has approved the proposal for the establishment of a gemstone laboratory, technical training, and certification center after completing all legal requirements. This project will produce a skilled workforce as per international standards and enhance the capacity building of manpower. Besides this the valuable indigenous resources will be processed locally which will generate revenue as well as promote local and international trading in the shape of huge foreign exchange to the public exchequer,” the Chief Minister said.
