Cricket has come a long way from just Test cricket. In 1971, a new format, ODI, was introduced to shorten the length of five-day cricket to garner the interest of more fans. 50 years after the first ODI, there are at least three more formats currently being played, which include T20, T10, and the latest format, ‘The Hundred.’

To keep up with the times, the CEO of ARY Digital Network, Salman Iqbal, announced that a new format of cricket is set to be launched in 2022. Iqbal said that arrangements have been made, and he can confirm that ‘Ninety-90 Bash’, a 90-ball cricket league, will be held in Sharjah annually.

Chairman of Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, approved the latest format during a signing ceremony held yesterday in Abu Dhabi. Salman Iqbal, ECB Vice-Chairman, Mr. Khalid Zarooni, Mr. Abdul Rehman Bukhatir, Mr. Khalaf Bukhatir, and General Secretary Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Mr. Aref Al Awani, were present during the groundbreaking signing ceremony.

Speaking on the groundbreaking occasion, Salman Iqbal said, “Sport has evolved over the years, and the time has come for cricket to take another leap of faith. We believe we have something brand new to offer, and the entire team expects the tournament to be a grand success.”
According to details, the preparation for cricket’s latest format is in motion, and many cricketing superstars have shown their interest in taking part in the exciting tournament. The dates of the tournament have not been confirmed yet, but the tournament is scheduled to hold its inaugural edition early next year.
