The Honor Play 5 has just become official as the latest mid-range device from the Chinese phone maker. The handset has launched in China with a tall OLED display, a 64MP quad-camera setup, and super fast charging.

Design and Display
The display is a 6.53-inch OLED panel with 1080p resolution and a U-shaped notch for the selfie camera. It has support for HDR10 content, a tall 20:9 aspect ratio, and a high screen-to-body ratio thanks to extremely thin bezels. The fingerprint sensor is underneath the display.
Internals and Storage
The MediaTek Dimensity 800U is at the helm of the device, which goes on par with the Snapdragon 765G in terms of performance. You get two storage options – 128GB and 256GB, but you will get 8GB RAM with both trims. Honor hasn’t mentioned a microSD card slot yet.
For software, the phone boots the dated Android 10 with Magic UI 4.0 on top. The Chinese variant gets no support for Google apps and services.
Cameras
The square-shaped camera setup on the back includes a 64MP main sensor next to an 8MP ultrawide camera. The other two cameras are 2MP sensors for depth sensing and macro photography. There is 4K 30 FPS video recording support as well as 1080p 60 FPS.
The 16MP front camera is a wide-angle shooter capable of 1080p video recording.
Battery and Pricing
The battery is only 3,800 mAh, which is rather low for today’s standards, but it gets support for 66W fast charging through the USB C port. This should charge up the phone 0 to 100% in only 35 minutes.
The Honor Play 5 will be available in black, purple, and gradient color options for $326. This is the selling price in China and pricing for the global variant will slightly differ.
