Here’s Why Kamran Akmal Has Lost Hopes of a Comeback

Veteran wicket-keeper batsman, Kamran Akmal, believes that his playing days for Pakistan are over because of the sublime form of Mohammad Rizwan. Akmal said that it is nearly impossible for him to make a comeback to the national team because of the way Rizwan is playing and the performances he has put in over the past year.

Rizwan has been one of the most consistent performers for Pakistan in the last few series. He rose to prominence on Pakistan’s tour of England in 2020, where he impressed the cricketing fraternity with his exceptional glovework behind the stumps and his ability to bat under pressure.

He has since gone on to establish himself as one of the finest wicket-keeper batsmen in the world and has earned plaudits for the massive improvement in his game.

Rizwan has completely transformed his batting as well. He has transitioned into an opener in the shortest format of the game and scored a lot of runs at the top of the order, including a wonderful century against South Africa in the T20I series in Pakistan.

He is one of the three Pakistani batsmen to have scored a century in each format, having scored two ODI centuries and one century in Test and T20I each.

Akmal, on the other hand, saw his international career fade away after a promising start. He was a regular for the national side in the mid-2000s and early 2010s before losing his place after a poor string of performances, especially behind the stumps. He managed to make a comeback to the side in 2017 but failed to impress and was subsequently dropped from the team.

Akmal represented Pakistan in 53 Tests, 157 ODIs, and 58 T20Is, scoring over 6,000 international runs across all formats.
