Grade 10 and 12 Classes Reopen Today

The federal government has resumed classes for Grades 10 and 12 in Islamabad under strict COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs), as announced by the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Hamza Shafqaat, on Sunday evening.

As per the decision of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), it has been decided to start only Grade 10 and 12 classes with staggered attendance and strict compliance of SOPs from May 31.

However, classes from Grades 1 to 9 and 11 will start on 7 June with staggered attendance, and private educational institutions have been asked to follow the same.

In accordance with the decision taken on 20 May by the NCOC, schools and colleges will reopen from 7 June.

The Director of the Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA), Zafar Iqbal Yousufzai, also announced its compliance with the government’s decision to resume classes for Grades 10 and 12 from today (Monday).

In a similar development, the Punjab Higher Education Department (HED) has also announced the reopening of all private and government colleges across the province from 31 May (Monday).

The HED Secretary, Nadeem Mehboob, said that the colleges in Khanewal and Rahim Yar Khan (RYK) will remain closed until further order as both the districts have high coronavirus positivity ratios.

Furthermore, the teachers and the support staff have also been asked to get vaccinated against the coronavirus by 5 June.
