Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has abolished the requirement of mandatory disinfection for ferry flights of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
According to the official notification, PIA’s ferry flights are disinfected before departure from Pakistan, therefore, they do not require disinfection at a foreign station before boarding the passengers.

Earlier this week, Chief Operating Officer (COO) PIA, Air Commodore, Jawad Zafar Chaudhry, had requested CAA to waive off the condition of mandatory disinfection of ferry flights.
In an official letter, COO PIA stated that PIA’s ferry flights are disinfected in line with CAA’s COVID-19 SOPs after returning to Pakistan. Since ferry flights are already disinfected before departure from Pakistan, CAA is requested to waive off the requirement of disinfection at foreign stations.

Last month, CAA had declared the disinfection of passenger flights as mandatory to minimize the risk of transmission of COVID-19.
Note that PIA has been operating ferry flights to rescues Pakistanis stranded in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia due to COVID-related travel restrictions.
