Writer: Amna Mufti Director: Mohammad Saqib Khan Producer: Momina Duraid Productions Schedule: Tuesday 8 pm on Hum I was initially drawn to Khushbo Mein Basay Khat due to the talented scriptwriter Amna Mufti. Known for crafting impactful stories with a touch of novelty, Amna Mufti’s work has always been impressive. As I watched each episode, I was pleasantly surprised by the engagement value of the drama. The top-notch execution of the storyline added an extra layer of excellence, proving to be a delightful bonus. So far, Khushbo Mein Basay Khat has not only lived up to my expectations set by…

Ishq Murshid Review – Is it Worth the Hype
Writer: Abdul Khaliq Khan Director: Farooq Rind Schedule: Sunday 8 pm on Hum TV Let me start this review with an honest confession, I have started giving Pakistani dramas way more leverage than I did back when I started reviewing dramas and in the past few years. There are several reasons for this shift in perspective, firstly when you are not scrutinizing every single episode; you end up watching these dramas with a viewer’s perspective more than that of a critic only. There is the option of fast-forwarding as well when you are watching a drama on YouTube, which makes…
Neem Episode 6 Review – New Beginnings
Neem continues to move forward at a steady pace. With this latest episode, all the main tracks moved in a different direction. This latest episode of Neem was truly heart-warming in so many ways. All the characters got equal screen time and the substantial growth in their tracks was covered in a convincing manner. The timeline was confusing because it felt as if too much happened in a short span of time. Zimal’s character and her new journey with Shazil by her side was both uplifting and refreshing. Ashhad set off to America sooner than expected. Karamat’s new beginning did…
Neem Episode 4 Review – Best Drama on Hum TV
Neem continues to be an intelligently written drama which is not flawless but it is definitely much more entertaining and meaningful than many of the other dramas on air right now. I think that Neem is currently the only drama on Hum that provides quality entertainment. I had huge expectations from Jhok Sarkar but I am finding it really difficult to sit through it. Ishq Gumshuda is repetitive to the core. I have heard wonderful things about Yunhi but watching it can be taxing, therefore I am trying to sit through the first few episodes so that once the story…
Neem Episode 3 Review – Syed Jibran Steals the Show
This recent episode of Neem had the most important and grimmest development to its credit. The promo of this episode clearly suggested that Baba Jan was going to exit the story but the way this exit was covered, had to be the highlight of tonight’s episode. The build-up leading to the actual scene was not just convincing but also engaging and suspenseful. Karamat’s panic attack after he did the unimaginable showed Syed Jibran’s range as a brilliant performer. Unfortunately, Syed Jibran only gets to showcase his remarkable acting skills in negative roles. However, I do feel that even though he…
Neem Episode 2 Review – Just What the Doctor Ordered
This second episode of Neem was as meaningful as the first one. With the exception of two scenes, all the others added something to the story. So far, the script has clarity and meaning. There is a variety of characters and tracks in the drama. Till now, most of these characters are interesting. Different Aspects of Cyberspace This latest episode opened with introducing new characters which brought with them a new theme as well. It was amusing how the fake online persona which is a constant in many people’s lives nowadays was shown from a realistic perspective. A person, who…
Jhok Sarkar Episode 1 – Review
Writer: Hashim Nadeem Director: Saife Hassan Producer: Momina Duraid Schedule: Every Tuesday at 8 pm on Hum I must say that after watching the teasers and promos of Jhok Sarkar, I was looking forward to this one more than any other upcoming drama. In fact after watching the latest promo, I was wondering if Jhok Sarkar will be the next Parizaad! Yes, Parizaad set the bar really high because it was one of those rare dramas which are both meaningful and intriguing. It also proved that the right casting can completely change the final outcome. Did this first episode live…
Bakhtawar Last Episode Review
When drama serial Bakhtawar went on air, many of us compared it to Parizaad and wondered if Bakhtawar will also be another unforgettable drama such as Parizaad. The good news is that Bakhtawar was a memorable drama in its own right; it was a story of resilience and uncharted strength. The ending of both the drama was more or less the same. However, it did not have the same impact which Parizaad had on the viewers. I re-watched the last scene from Parizaad and I must say that it was on a completely different level altogether. The dialogues, cinematography, and…
Dobara Last Episode – Story Review
The ending of any drama reflects the kind of message that the writer wanted to convey through the story. Dobara’s “happy ending” was extremely unexpected and perhaps not too convincing either since most of us are not as kind-hearted as Mehru 😉 Yes, I had a difficult time forgiving Mahir and was not sure if he really deserved a woman such as Mehru. But there was definitely a hidden meaning there which I believe holds true even for such situations and people such as Mahir. While watching this ending, a part of me felt “cheated” especially because Mahir’s redemption was…
Dobara Episode 32 Story Review – Fall From Grace
The second last episode we had all been waiting for finally aired tonight. Jahangir, Mahir’s father, was definitely the star of the show in this episode. Mahir has fallen from grace, which is actually unfortunate because he was such a likable grey character. Hadiqa Kiyani translated the subtle changes in Mehru’s attitude superbly on screen. The way Mehru reacted to the information Babar had to share was quite contrary to my expectations but also in line with her character. However, this episode was not as happening and powerful as I was expecting it to be. The dialogues were well written…
