She rose to fame after appearing in ARY Digital’s hit drama serial Bismil, where her acting as Momal received huge praise.
Recently, Sherbano Rehmani appeared on Good Morning Pakistan. She talked about playing the character Momal and shared her fan experiences after Bismil’s success.
Talking about playing Momal in Bismil, she said, “I randomly got the call for Bismil, and I didn’t even ask about the director and the team. I talked to them, and they explained to me the character. Yes, I have a problem speaking Urdu, but in Bismil I was an American return girl, so it went okay. Also, I am the kind of person who can perfectly speak Urdu if given a pure Urdu character. For the Bismil audition, I wore desi clothes, and I spoke Urdu. Aehsun sir asked me if I could speak English, and then I switched on my American accent. It was deliberate that I acted as a Desi girl because I knew I was going to give an audition for a Pakistani drama.”
Sherbano Rehmani said she styled Momal herself with guidance from the director and used her own clothes for the role. She also borrowed a few outfits from Ayesha Omar, who is her family friend and housemate in Karachi.
Talking about fan moments, she said, “Yes, I have started getting fan moments; I was stopped at the airport by someone, and they asked for a picture. It was an overwhelming experience. Then another girl on the same flight saw me, and we started talking. She didn’t talk to me about the character, but then her parents asked her to take a picture with me, so she came back to me”
She further said, “my Family acknowledges my work especially after Bismil success; my Khala also called me and scolded me for whatever wrong Momal was doing. She was taking me as Momal”. Here is the link to the video:
