Zard Patton Ka Bunn is a famous Hum TV drama serial that recently ended on a beautiful lesson-oriented note. The drama serial is Momina Duraid and Kashf Foundation’s production. The story was written by the brilliant writer Mustafa Afridi. Ace Pakistani director Saifee Hassan directed the show. Sajal Aly and Hamza Sohail were the main lead characters of the drama. Zard Patton Ka Bunn (ZPKB) became a successful venture because of its acting, direction, production and the brilliant supporting cast.
Recently, Ali Tahir appeared on Kashf Foundation’s digital media channel where he gave an interview to Roshaneh Zafar regarding ZPKB. Ali Tahir discussed designing and portraying the character of progressive Chacha Afzal who was a dispenser at Kaiser Kallan village.
Talking about designing the character, Ali Tahir said, “I read the script of ZPKB and resonated with it. I felt the purity of the character Afzal Chacha. I also found it relevant to the story and that it was connected with all the characters. When I read the script, I found out that Afzal is very close to his father. He always discusses his father so I asked Saifee if I would wear an army sweater which had memories with his father. After the release, Mustafa said that his sister told him that Chacha Afzal also used to wear the sweater and it was a part of his personality”.
Talking about the message of drama, Ali Tahir said, “The drama has significantly conveyed its message especially it showed two outstanding progressive fathers who belonged to different social settings but have the same qualities who supported their children and had understanding of what their kids want in life. Both, Nofil and Meenu’s father came from different social statuses but they knew what their children need from them. So! I like this message of ZPKB”.
Talking of the positive portrayal of men in ZPKB who also had emotional aspects, Ali Tahir said, “for me a person who is not understanding and emotional is definitely not a man, he is a discourteous person, a real man should be emotional, he should feel for others and render his best possible support to others”.
