OnePlus Nord N100 Has a Hidden Feature That Makes The Phone Smoother

Last month, the Chinese Smartphone maker OnePlus launched its first entry-level smartphone that is basically a slightly tweaked version of the Oppo A53 launched in August. The Oppo A53 was touted as the cheapest smartphone with a 90 Hz display. However, surprisingly, the company announced that the Nord N100 does not come with a higher refresh rate.

This felt rather peculiar as, since the launch of the OnePlus 7 series, the company has been all about the smoothness of its ‘fluid displays,’ featuring 90Hz and 120Hz refresh rates.

Nevertheless, it looks like the company itself was confused about the phone’s refresh rate. Recently, Android Authority purchased a Nord N100 in the UK to review it and found out that the handset actually comes with a 90Hz panel. After their report, the company retracted its previous statements about the phone shipping with a 60Hz screen and is now saying

The N100 is equipped with a 90Hz display. The actual refresh rate depends on settings, applications used, and processing limitations.

OnePlus has not probably marketed this feature for this phone due to the processing limitations. The smartphone comes with a Snapdragon 460 chipset which may not be capable of providing a smooth enough experience all the time if you go with the 90Hz setting. Still, it is weird to purposefully discount something present on a device. Especially since many OEMs like to do the exact opposite.
