Actress Mariyam Nafees has made a name for herself in a very short amount of time. Although Mariyam has been doing supporting roles on television, she has made a mark with her performances.
Recently Mariyam opened up about the harassment she had been going through at the hands of people who thought actresses had no worth whatsoever. Taking to her social media, Mariyam narrated an incident where a man had blatantly asked her some hideous questions.
“Actress hu, prostitute nahi. (I’m an actress, not a prostitute) I’m sick of these proposals and I’ve tried whatever I could to make them stop but this is what I’m going to do now. It affects my mental health, it disturbs me that some people think this is what my business is. NO! I’M NOT FOR SALE!,” wrote Mariyam on her Instagram while sharing a screenshot of the conversation between her and the said man.
Answering Mariyam’s message, actress Armeena Khan also shared that the very same man had messaged her as well some time ago and she had put him in his place without hesitation.
Even actress Hina Bayat supported Mariyam and encouraged her bravery. Hina stated that she was proud of Mariyam for not bowing down to disrespect and harassment! “Never let it bring you down – physically, emotionally, mentally……because the fault is with them, not you,” she wrote.
