Met Office Predicts Heavy Rains Across Pakistan in the Coming Weeks

A new system of rains will enter Pakistan in the second half of June bringing down the mercury level, the Meteorological Department said.
The Met Office has issued a weather update predicting a new system of rain entering the country from June 17.
It said that frequent rains across the country will keep the raising temperatures in control throughout the month.

Shoaib Akhtar Reportedly Receives Notice from FIA Cyber Crime Wing

The Cybercrime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has directed the former fast bowler, Shoaib Akhtar, to appear before the agency on Friday at 11 am, Geo News reported.
The FIA has summoned the Rawalpindi Express in connection with his legal spat against PCB’s Legal Advisor, Tafazzul Rizvi.
Akhtar’s lawyer, Abuzar Salman, however, has denied receiving any notice from the investigation agency, adding that they will submit a reasonable response to the notice if they receive any.

OGRA Issues Notices to Shell, Attock Petroleum & Total PARCO

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has issued show-cause notices to three Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) for not maintaining the required stocks of fuel, which caused a disturbance in the smooth supply of petroleum products in the country.
“Ogra has issued show-cause notices to three OMC’s, where major dry outs have been reported,” OGRA spokesman Imran Ghaznavi said in a brief statement.
Shell Pakistan Limited, Attock Petroleum Limited and Total Parco Pakistan Limited have been directed to submit a reply within 24 hours.
On June 2, the authority had directed Chief Executives of 33 OMCs to ensure the availability of petroleum products at their retail outlets.
“It is being reported in print and electronic media as well as physical verification through Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan (HDIP) that several outlets are running dry or short of product affecting product availability to the consumers,” OGRA mentioned in a letter sent to OMCs, a copy of which is availab..

HP Updates Omen 15 Gaming Laptops With 300Hz Displays & 4th Gen Ryzen CPUs

HP has refreshed its Omen series of gaming laptops for 2020 with massive hardware upgrades and the option to choose between Intel and AMD CPUs, which is a first for an HP OMEN laptop.

There are a few notable design changes included as well. A new diamond logo with a blue and green gradient has been added to the back and there is now an optional per-key RGB backlight. The thermal dissipation has been improved as well with larger vents, a 12V fan with three-sided venting, and an IR thermopile sensor.

PK-8303 Crash: PIA Gives Rs. 1 Million Each to Victims’ Families

According to a spokesperson for the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the national flag carrier has paid compensation to the bereaved families of the PK-8303 plane crash victims.
Families of the victims have been provided Rs. 1 million each while Rs. 0.5 million each have been given to the 2 girls who sustained injuries in the Model Colony Crash last month.
Following the disaster, the federal government had also announced to compensate Model Colony residents whose houses and cars sustained damage from the catastrophe.
On May 22, PIA’s Airbus A320 headed to Karachi from Lahore crashed in Model Colony near Jinnah International Airport Karachi, killing 97 out of the 99 passengers on board. 2 passengers miraculously survived.
The conclusive inquiry report on the ill-fated PK-8303 being conducted by the Aviation Division will be presented in the parliament on June 22, PM Imran Khan has ordered to make the reports of all PIA’s crashes since 1947 publicly available.

PCB Resumes Operations, Lays Off a Big Chunk of Employees

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has resumed office after lockdown restrictions have eased in the country. In a statement, the cricket board said that the operations will resume partly with limited staff at the PCB headquarters only.
The PCB is yet to take the final decision on the opening of regional and other offices as there is still confusion regarding the future of lockdown and resumption of businesses. The cricket team’s next assignment is the tour to England, which the PCB has principally agreed subject to approval from the government.
It will be a partial resumption with limited staff at the headquarters to look into the day to day affairs, pending jobs, and priorities. However, the next step would be holding the training camp, according to the government’s instructions.

Govt Announces New Coronavirus Testing Policy for Inbound Passengers

Special assistant to Prime Minister on National Security Division and Strategic Policy Planning, Dr. Moeed Yusuf has announced that the government will increase the number of inbound passengers per week by accelerating the testing process for COVID-19.
In a tweet, he said that the government will bring back 20,000 passengers by 10th of June, 10,000 more compared to last week.
