AMD CPUs Had a Security Flaw for The Past 9 Years: Researchers

Intel CPUs have been known to contain hardware vulnerabilities for years now. However, a group of researchers from the Graz University of Technology have revealed that AMD CPUs have had them all along as well.
The white paper released by the researchers describes a vulnerability called “Take A Way” that is able to leak data off of AMD CPUs dating back to 2011. This means that whether it is an old Athlon 64 X2 or a new high-end Ryzen 7 processor, they’ve all been vulnerable to cyberattacks all along.
This vulnerability allows intruders to monitor the CPU’s memory without having access to any physical addresses or shared memory. Although this exploit is not able to leak nearly as much data as Meltdown or Spectre, the researchers were still able to easily uncover sensitive data such as encryption keys. The research team took advantage of the flaws using JavaScript, common browser extensions, and most notably, virtual machines on the cloud.
The flaw has already been pointed out to AMD a..

Redmi Discovers a Way to Add Underdisplay Fingerprint Sensor to Affordable Phones

Under display fingerprint sensor technology has been limited to OLED panels so far. This is because OLED panels are much thinner than LCDs since they do not require any sort of backlighting. This is the reason why phones with LCDs come with rear or side-mounted fingerprint scanners.
However, Redmi has figured out a way to make the technology work on LCDs. The company’s brand manager Lu Weibing has announced that they’ve successfully implemented an under-display fingerprint sensor on an LCD and they’ve even posted a demonstration video on the Redmi Note 8 Pro prototype.
The biggest limitation of LCDs preventing the implementation of this technology was their backlight module. The module would interfere with the fingerprint scanner by preventing infrared light to pass through and scan the finger.
Weibing explains that they were able to overcome this limitation by installing an infrared transmitter at the bottom of the display and a special film that boosts light transmission and allow..
